Right of Grievance Redressal

The right to readily available means of grievance redressal provided by a Data Fiduciary or Consent Manager.

Section 13

What it means

Section 13 gives the Data Principal the right to readily available means of grievance redressal from a Data Fiduciary or Consent Manager concerning performance of obligations or exercise of rights. Ready availability is the point: buried, unstaffed or unresponsive channels undermine the right in practice.

Worked example

A privacy policy that lists only a generic “info@” address with no triage, SLA or escalation — while Principals cannot find any other path — is a weak Section 13 posture even if the email technically exists.

In practice

Publish clear intake channels, ownership, response targets aligned to applicable Rules once commenced, and escalation to the Board path where appropriate. Train agents to distinguish grievances from ordinary customer support.
